CENTENARY PUBLICATION – CALL FOR CONTRIBUTIONS

On the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Bauhaus in 2019, the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar intends to produce a centenary publication reflecting the thought and action at the international, interdisciplinary university. University members and alumni are invited to submit contributions for the publication.

The contributions to the publication should portray the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar as a contemporary university in the cradle of the Bauhaus, where modern instruments and methods are used to find answers to present-day issues. The broadest possible range of contributions is desired to showcase the university as a whole and the full breadth of diverse topics considered there. Contributions examining the question of how the relationship between humans, nature and technology (systems, structures, machines) can be shaped to enable a decent life and social cohesion are particularly welcome.

Invitation

University members and alumni are invited to submit contributions for the publication. Formats are sought that are suitable for pointed presentation of the respective topic and can be published in a print publication. Possibilities include essays, interviews, photo series, sketches, artistic contributions, model visualisations, reflections, and documentaries; opinion pieces are also welcome. A compelling book is to be created to enable outside observers to access the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar on an intellectual level in an entertaining manner.

Format and submission deadline

Please submit your idea for a contribution to us via email (juliane.behrendt@uni-weimar.de) by 15 February 2018 as either a Word document (max. 1,000 characters) or a visualization (JPG). Contributions may be in English or German.

Procedure and schedule

The ideas submitted will be reviewed in the second half of February. The editorial team will then contact the chosen contributors to refine their submission and verify the feasibility of their idea. Should the number of suitable contributions exceed the publication’s planned scope, a selection will be made in coordination with the Presidium. The final article must then be submitted by 30 April 2018. The individual contributions should not exceed five to ten pages in length (max. 25,000 characters). Publication is planned for the start of 2019.
