On the link to the »Republik der Geister, Republic of Spirits!« Bauhaus festival, the pavilion is ceremoniously inaugurated and used for the Bauhaus festival on 12 April 2019 as the »Meeting room of Franz and Walter« on the west side of the Main Building. The room replicates the spatial concept of the Gropiuszimmer (»Gropius room«), which is otherwise only accessible in the context of guided tours.
»We invite everyone to experience the Gropiuszimmer as a structural and notionally construed allegory of the open space concept of the young Bauhaus and the open perception of democracy, to linger there for a while, to reflect, to exchange ideas and pursue further thoughts«, says Julia Heinemann, research assistant to the professorship of Building Morphology in the Faculty of Architecture and Urbanism of Bauhaus-Universität Weimar, and initiator of the project.

The Gropiuszimmer-Pavillon space installation merges with the award-winning audio drama of the same name »AUDIO.SPACE.MACHINE«. Here, in a mechanical-digital sound universe, the authors wittmann/ zeitblom examine 100 years of the relationship between machine and human being, the idealistic-utopian spirit of the movement, its myths and manias. For this purpose they create a mechanical-digital sound universe, associative sound laboratories, and they combine texts by Oskar Schlemmer, Wassily Kandinsky and other Bauhaus artists of the 1920s with quotations, for example, by John Cage, Bazon Brock and the highly renowned scientist, Martin Rees.
