»With the Tag der Lehre we want to create an opportunity to pause and reflect on what we can improve, what new teaching methods have already been tried, and what might be interesting for the future,« says Prof. Nathalie Singer, Vice-President of Academic Affairs. »We want to strengthen the network between the faculties and offer them the opportunity to enter into dialogue on a new level. That is why we are planning different formats for presentations and discussions such as »Blitzlicht«, »Werkstatt« and »Markt.« This allows faculty and students of various subjects to discuss their ideas and suggestions for contemporary teaching in new and different constellations.
At the same time, the Tag der Lehre calls on both students and educators to help shape the coming Bauhaus Semester. The Bauhaus semester starting in October 2018 celebrates the 100th anniversary of the design school founded in Weimar and kicks off its many activities on the occasion of the Bauhaus jubilee in 2019. To this end, the university will offer experimental and forward-looking instructional formats for an entire semester, promote exchange across the faculties through series of talks and lectures, and invite guest lecturers, including scholars from its international partner universities.
»The Tag der Lehre is designed to provide a kind of first spark,« adds Singer, »It would be great if it generated concepts for interdisciplinary teaching formats or new courses of study.«
