Rodins »Eva« returns to the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar after successful restoration

When visitors enter the foyer of Bauhaus-Universität Weimar’s Main Building, their gaze is immediately drawn to Henry van de Veldes famous staircase. For years, the sculpture of »Eva«, designed by August Rodin, adorned this spot. Her presence has been missing since 7 February 2016. After a successful restoration, however, the sculpture will be returned to her place in the foyer of the Main Building on 12 December 2018.

»Eva«, designed by August Rodin, was erected in the foyer of the former Art Academy 1912 to portray the free spirit of art and has been a part of the University’s colourful history ever since. Admired, treasured, and the centre of many events, she has become a symbol of togetherness and community at the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar. She was intentionally destroyed in February 2016.

Thanks to the numerous donations, »Eva« will now be returned to her rightful place. Join us in celebrating her return in the foyer of the Main Building of the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar.
