1000 ⁰C – Synergy effects of glass craftsmanship and product design

Thuringia has an impressive tradition of glass and glasswork craftsmanship and skill. In this workshop series, students are introduced to glass craftsmanship and acquire the specialized knowledge required for design and production. Students develop their own approach to the material and interact with it in depth.

Two workshops have already taken place in cooperation with the Elias Farbglashütte Lauscha. In the first workshop, students learned about the different methods of blowing and casting glass and pressing it into moulds at temperatures of 1200⁰. In the second workshop, students learned about the concept of »drinking water«. Through an exchange with the Elias Farbglashütte Lauscha, students were able to experiment and develop exciting new approaches.
