Reinvention of Matter

At the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar, the value of used goods has been reassessed and questioned in a collaboration between artists who examine a find and environmental engineers who deal with infrastructure for waste and water. The used material, which is still referred to as rubbish, waste or sewage, gains a new perspective through the consideration and symbolisation of its constant change and transformation.

Questions considered by the students included which finds from one’s own biography and life can be processed in this context using an artistic approach and to what extent the work of art itself can be recycled or »green«? What stance can an artist take and what new questions arise?
