On the occasion of the anniversary year, the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar will be supporting projects that deal with the ideas, history, and development of Bauhaus. The projects submitted by students, research assistants, professors, and alumni will all play a major role in the University’s anniversary programme, an overview of which can be found on this site.

Bach at the Bauhaus
Many of the artists of the newly-established Bauhaus movement in the 1920s in Weimar appreciated the music of Johann Sebastian Bach as an important source of inspiration, among others in their search for constructive principles for abstract art.
Haifa/Erfurt. Architecture of Modernity in Dialogue.
This exhibit showcases photography and research of modern architecture in Erfurt and Haifa. Although the two cities have developed differently and far away from one another, they have been linked as twin cities since 2000 and are about to enter into a dialogue and examine both their similarities and differences.

In preparation for the Bejing Design Week in Area 798, the »bauhaus = impuls + resonanz« exhibition held from 19 to 24 September 2017 aimed to illustrate the history and ideas and reception of the early Bauhaus.

DENKRAUM BAUHAUS
A national conference is being planned for 2019 during which the question of contemporary pedagogy for the next generation and the responsibility of architects, artists, and designers in the teaching of personal responsibility and social participation will be considered. The latter forms the focus of the interdisciplinary discourse on the topicality of the utopias and pedagogy of the Bauhaus in their reception for contemporary education.
Introductory course for winter semester 2017/18
An introductory University course serves as a bridge between the differentiated academic career paths of the first semester and the challenges of university teaching and research formats. It offers training in specialist cultural tools, as well as in standards for presenting art and science to the general public.

Kollektiv Kubik
The Kollektiv Kubik is a network of people exploring and expanding scope for action. Within an interdisciplinary and collective project and activity series, design methods and the experiences of other specialists are used to take a conscious look at our own environment and actively tackle further social development.

Reinvention of Matter
At the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar, the value of used goods has been reassessed and questioned in a collaboration between artists who examine a find and environmental engineers who deal with infrastructure for waste and water. The used material, which is still referred to as rubbish, waste or sewage, gains a new perspective through the consideration and symbolisation of its constant change and transformation.
NEXT100
NEXT100 is a unique Weimar‐based exhibition platform that presents experiemental, large format installations, audio‐visual performances and media architecture works, from an array of international artists, that address the role of technology to explore new artistic formats and potentials.
Online publication for Bauhaus Colloquium
The exhibition that was displayed in autumn 2016 during the International Bauhaus Colloquium took a look back at the themes of International Bauhaus Colloquiums between 1976 and 2016. Documents, photographs and conversations with organisers, speakers and guests were used to review the 40-year history of this famous conference.

With the P-BANK, an interactive toilet, the Bauhaus Institute for Infrastructure Solutions is highlighting the environmental topics of the phosphorus shortage and the circulation of nutrients.

Consultation hours for Bauhaus visitors
The visitors expected during the Centenary can take advantage of the academic practice of personal consultation hours. During the relevant period, University members who want to take part will be available in their offices to answer questions about Bauhaus. The length and frequency of consultation hours will be individually set and announced via signs in buildings or areas.
Studio Wägetechnik
The Studio Wägetechnik is an interdisciplinary workspace founded in 2015 by 15 architecture students. During the semester, the spaces were adapted to their requirements for workstations and a workshop, and product designers and artists joined forces to work here or prepare an exhibition.
The Matter of Data. Tracing the Materiality of »Bauhaus modernism«
A project of the Centre for Documentary Architecture curated by Ines Weizman. The project »The Matter of Data« relates the migration history of the architecture of so-called »Bauhaus Modernism« to the logistics of the export of building components and materials from Germany to Palestine in the 1930s.
Think Tank
Within a think tank, renowned experts from the fields of art, design, architecture, technology and mediation will examine questions, ideas and utopias of the Bauhaus, discuss the contemporary relevance of thematic focuses identified from a subject-specific perspective, identify desiderata, and formulate core theses and research questions.
Tokyo Research Project
The internationally-oriented »Tokyo Research Project« is an experimental educational research project in cooperation with Waseda University in Tokyo.
